Testing my new Odyssey 1200 battery under hot and cold conditions on my C6 Z06. Overall I'm very happy with the performance and cranking power of this battery. It's not cheap by any means but if it means I won't get stranded or have to wait for my car to cool off in order for it to crank over, it's worth every penny! Footage shot with GoPro Hero 4 Silver. Hey man love the car what starter are you running
I love these cars. My dad has a red o9 z. I hate the steering wheel on these. . I wish they kept the 2005 steering wheel
Great video! Easy and to the point! Thanks
these batteries are amazing and amazingly expensive.
How do you push in the pistons
My 18 yr old son just bought a 2007 c6 z06 and just joined the Marines with his brother I will be able to take care of his car while he is gone appreciate the video!!!
Financed? Because that's a lot for a fresh E1-E3 to afford
i appreciate that you took the time to make this video, but it's not a very good video. the first 11.5 min of your video had NOTHING to do with the install, aside from a quick "clean the rotors before install" that could have taken 5 seconds. And then you didn't even show how you pushed the pistons in. At the end of the video you mentioned some caliper spreaders or a c clamp, so I guess they're not the type of pistons that have to be screwed in, but you didn't mention that at the time of removal/install. You didn't show how you took the rotor off or put the new one on. Basically all this video did was "show off" you brakes and how meticulous you are with making your brakes look pretty. If you make another "install" video, focus on the actual steps and less on the extraneous stuff that is specific to your tastes and parts. Was not a very helpful video. Again, I appreciate that you took the time to make it though.
U treat that car like a baby literally
Jamoke. Z06 be taking 10.5!
You need to replace the original springs?
Not required but recommended for any aftermarket cam job.
Can I do this with a 2007 Honda cavalier Rstx
Talk talk talk get to it man thanks
Kickin' some Hellcat's ass...lol.
2023 update?
I am wondering why does the power have to be supplied using an Add A Circuit? Why can you not just plug one cut spade into left side of the NPP fuse slot and another cut spade into right side of NPP fuse slot and wire it with same switch? You could also put an inline fuse between the wire to the switch. That way you do not have to tap into Heated Seat with an Add A Circuit . Just wondering if that was considered and would give same results. What I believe all of this is simulates with the switch is pulling the NPP fuse out and putting fuse back in. Any thoughts or clarifications would much be appreciated
I’m not an electrician so I just followed previous solutions. I’d be very curious to know if your solution works also!
By far the best explanation video I’ve seen on this subject. Thanks
What other mods does it have?
Cold air intake, headers, reworked heads, intake manifold.
@ZWHOA6 Productions thanks!
Is it normal to have minor metal shavings on the magnetic drain plug on a low milage vehicle ?! I’ve heard it’s part of the break in process
Yes it’s normal for the first oil change or 2. After that it should be very minimal to gone.
How has this held up over time? Your thoughts on this now that it's been a few years? Did you go with the speed inc street cam?
It held up perfectly but I did end up selling the car, unfortunately. Loved it. The cam was a custom grind, very similar specs to the speed inc street cam.
Need to drive it harder not meant for cruising!! Lol
Thanks 2006 Chevrolet Corvette V8-7.0L.
If you don't over torque the drain plugs, they should last the life of the car. You may need to replace the gasket/washer, but not the plug. That size thread is actually made to max at about 60 +ft lbs. safely. So when you torque the plug at 18 ft. Lbs. It is never going to stretch the threads.
I wonder if it has anything to do with poor driving skills and redlining to much
That will always contribute to faster engine wear in general, absolutely.
@@ZWHOA6Productions I just bought a 07 Z with 27K miles. Definitely worried every time I drive it. I get on it but not WOT. I’m going to do a head/cam job eventually, just trying to figure out who and what specs to run.
should i do this after oil change?
No need after oil change, everything will still be lubed internally.
@@ZWHOA6Productions ty
Nice work. A few additional notes: On my 2012 Z06, the drain plugs are 15mm, and it takes 10.5 quarts of new oil. Being anal, I pour a little (maybe a quarter of a quart) of fresh oil in after the old oil has drained, and let that flush out the little leftover residue in the pan, before putting the plugs back in. Finally, being frugal, I made my own ramps using two 2"x12"x10' planks, gradually ramping them up using an array of 2"x4"x11" blocks stacked up gradually along the way. With four blocks on the front end and the thickness of the 2x12, it gets the front of the car up ~7.5"; and the rear up by 1.5", since the planks are just long enough to get both the front and rear tires on them.
Great review!
I'm considering these rotors and pads for my C6Z, how was the stopping power and dust levels compared to the stock brakes?
Hi, I bought a C6 last year and it had a M2W switch. It doesn't have a remote but a switch like yours (with 3 prongs) and I don't know how it's wired. I had to take the console out for another issue, and I disconnected all the wires of the M2W but now I don't remember how it used to be wired. The only components are wires, switch and add-a-circuit fuse tap. And I do remember that the add-a-circuit was plugged in the Exhaust Mdl location, not the heated seat location like you did. Can you somehow contact me and walk me through how to put the connections back together?
Difference between this and the MGW flat short throw shifter ?
I think you're right on the upper/lower mounting points on the shaft for the shift knob to gain leverage. I installed the MGW shifter with their gripper knob a few months ago, and it's honestly too low and makes shifting more difficult than I would like. I called MGW and they said the height makes a big difference. I think I'm going to switch to the shaft that accepts the stock knob to get some leverage back.
Very informative video for a new C6Z owner. Waiting on my car to be delivered as we speak. It is a Lingenfelter package with a 236/244 @113 LSA cam. Wondering how it will drive now. First Corvette but coming from Gen 1/2 Vipers so surely it's not as rough as those.
Thank you for using my oil filter. My owners manual for 2007 Z06 indicates eight quarts of oil. Yes, the newer Z06s take 10 quarts for the record consult your owners manual. Happy Motoring in that Z06...
Great list👍..How about checking your antifreeze protection level if it's not in a climate controlled garage, certain places can definitely get into double digit negatives.
This guy still around.?
Hi Denny. I sold my Z06 but I’m keeping the videos up and replying to questions and comments.
@@ZWHOA6Productions okay I see you haven't put one up in awhile, I also live close to Traverse City Michigan in a little town called Gaylord and I just recently purchased a 2012 ZO6, so researching and I come across your great videos, sorry to hear you sold her..
I know you don't live in Traverse City
@@strivingformore9900 It's a beautiful area, been there a few times back when I had the Z!
Mobil1 is pretty good oil but it doesn’t have that many lubricants is which it’s pretty cheap. I use either royal purple, or redline, I have used amsoil but my buddies swear by the two previous oils. Redlines unreal oil! But it’s three times the money lol. Best stuff for my N20 since it does have timing chain issues and mobil 1 just won’t cut it. Some good oil that’s a bit better than monil1 is liqui moly.
Hey man I know this is an old video but I just wanted to let you know it was a big part in justifying purchasing the MGW shifter for my 2013 Grand Sport! Thank you for the in depth review. I hope you still have the car! Im out of chicago but cover Wisconsin for work and plan to track my car at road America next summer
You’re welcome! Glad the video helped. I did end up selling my Z but I love keeping up with friends and others who still have them.
Just never buy Fram oil filters they are cardboard garbage. Cut one open see for yourself.
Do you like I did sell it have a nice paycheck and buy your 5.0 put a supercharger on there still have plenty of money to play with
The anal retentive mechanic lol…..
any ideas why im getting shifter play in gear with the mgw? I tightened the piss out of the pinch bolt so thats not it.
Not sure. I’d reach out to George at MGW.
Great vid! This is why I went grandsport instead.
🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Nice video little heavy on the rubber gasket on the drain plug but other than that good
I have reservations regarding this procedure. I do use it on my motorcycle in the spring. BUT I pull the spark plugs which relieves the pressure on the dry rod and main bearings. Of course the cam and valve train still takes a dry beating. The slow rotation does reduce the dynamic compression so maybe its a good thing?
GM would not have implemented this feature if it wasn’t safe.
@@ZWHOA6Productions As you stated, this feature was engineered and intended for a flooded engine situation. It was not engineered as a pre-oiler for a dry engine. Is a slow dry rotation better than an immediate dry start where the oil pump will more aggressively pump the oil…. I don’t know.
@@kerryblueher3147 Good question. I just have to believe that pre-cranking the engine with oil has to be better than a full-on instant dry start after months of sitting.
@@ZWHOA6Productions FYI. I have read a statement by the Engine Re-manufacturing Association (that may not be the exact title) that the majority of engines returned for warranty had sat for 6 months or longer. For whatever that’s worth.
Did you replace the valve stems as well?
Yes everything was replaced
I just got my z06 end of January. It’s snowing every other day here in New York and it’s driving me mental with the car in the garage. I want to go out and enjoy it but there is sand and dirt and salt everywhere. Probably won’t get to enjoy it for at least a few more weeks, assuming March some rain will come and clean up some of the mess
Hang in there!
Is the big cam effecting the oil life ?
I wouldn’t know my cam is small 😊
Will this work with an auto?
I believe so yes.
Yes it works with an auto. Put your foot on the brakeand hold it, gas pedal pressed and crank it
